Magic Mile Update

Morning all!

Well what a shitty week!  I have suffered the mother of all man-flus and as a result I am not quite where I wanted to be in terms of fitness, mileage or speed.  BUT and it is a big but, I have survived the life threatening illness and have been out for a run this morning!

I did a nice little 6 miler around Acton and Chiswick (4 of them with Mrs LB) who is still suffering with a cough.  So the pace was quite comfortable for me but no bad thing given that I am not 100% yet either.

I have maintained a #PlankADay and doing the #PressUpChallenge though.  The planks are a nightmare!  I have rather a lot of work to do on my 'abs'.  I say 'abs' because they are there somewhere but currently missing in action.  Over the next few months I hope that the plank times will increase but currently I am stuck on 90 seconds!  Some bloke just broke the world record (American, obviously) and managed 1hr 20 minutes of a continuous plank!  Apologies for trying to be a teenager but WTF!?  That guy's abs must be unreal, not jealous at all.

Over the next few weeks I want to get the weight moving in the right direction after the splurges of Christmas and New Year. Below is a summary of where I am this year so far.

SUMMARY - 2012
Running - 9.5 miles
Magic Mile Best - 7mins 28secs
Press Ups - 45 (9 this morning for the 9th day of the year)
PlankADay Streak - 9 days (11 mins)
Boot Camps - 0 (Starting on Friday)
Football Sessions - 0 (starts on Wednesday)

MAGIC MILE
Over the past week I have had over 500 views of the blog explaining the #MagicMile concept.  I have had 45 people submit their times.  Remember the simple rules:

1. Be honest, maybe use the same mile each time rather than trying to find steeper hills to run down!
2. At the end of January we will move onto Stage 2 of the #MagicMile concept.  The plan is for each of us at some point during the month to do one 1 mile run each month trying to improve on our January times.
3.  There are 2 winners in December.  The fastest mile and most improved (as a percentage of the January time)

There are a few competitive souls out there, so below is the current table.  Remember that you can keep updating your time through the month and (injured souls aside) that we will cut off the competition at the end of January.  Have fun and please spread this blog far and wide.  Over the next month my plan is to launch a website (either on my own or with someone else) so the more the merrier!  I am really pleased that there is a VERY wide range in times, this competition is open to everyone regardless of 'ability'!

Thanks
LBx
